Women Promotion Through Water Shed Management
The vitality of the environment plays a major role in the quality of life of the human community living therein. This is true in the context of rural society, which have a direct and symbolic relationship with the surrounding environment. The environment of our planet has been deteriorating over a period of time, enough to warrent serious concern. A lot of things is being rapidly depleted at an alarming scale. At this stage, watershed management and development is the key strategy for rural development and poverty alleviation. Watershed management is a unit of Natural Resource Management, which governs the natural laws. This represents a paradigm shift in the development approach that means old paradigm to new paradigm, where we emphasis on bottom up approach. There is the drastic change in the planning and implementation of the developmental programmes where now much emphasis is on the involvement of people in their own development and in this direction the voluntary organizations are also coming forward to help and support people by institutionalizing and strengthening them through the formation of SHG's, which can be seen as the good means to organize and motivate people to come forward to recognize their needs and to materialize them through their own intiatives and efforts. Self Help Groups (SHGs) are self manged groups of people who have come together to promote saving among themselves as well as pool savings for activities benefiting either individual or communities economically. In the eyes of society women have a status secondary to that of men. This process has been so internalised that even in her own eyes, a women identity is derived either from that of her father, her husband or her male children. As we are talking about women promotion, women are the back bone of the family and family makes the society. A set of society makes country.
To make women SHG, which helps to reduce gender bioness and to make society strong, which leads to rural development. There are certain impacts which can see through successful running of Women SHG.
